    Wow, ya sure don't catch many crackers on artificials

    Absolutely sure it can be done, just haven't caught many with the artificials myself. Those shellcrackers are dadgumed picky most times.

    Pretty fish noluck. They are starting to move up around here. All I catch them on is artificials......Trout Magnets....but other artificials will work as well. The link to article disco put up hits it on the head. I made 16 reports last year in this forum on catching shellcrackers starting in May and running through I think September. Not just an occasional shellcracker but dozens out each trip. The key to me has always been in finding them.

    fish the 1/32 0r smaller jigs . Sometimes with/without a spinner . I prefer pony heads . Fish on 4lb. test . the slow fall is crucial to catch red ear . do the countdown method and expect them to be near the bottom .
