    Default LP New Year start

Finally got out. Think the lake did a turnover - surface water temp is 50F! Fishing a cold front - suppose to rain the rest of the week.... Changed over to a pink auto tipped with a cricket. Fishing over 60 FOW.

Wow, 60' of water. Long way from the bottom. I am guessing you don't have much current there? What kind of rig do you use to fish that deep?

    Thnx guys
Ah - you must be "chomping at the bit"!!!
Jj - I'm trolling over the deep water - most of these fish are in the top 15 FOW. I'm using UL rods from Japan, 2 lb test line, and 1/32nd or 1/48th jigs (chub, chub bellyspinner, or auto - all tipped with a cricket). Trolling speed is ~.6 mph.

Outstanding public lake winter fishing. "The legend", yet again demonstrates his ability.
Are there many others out there this time of the year?

Thnx OG - don't know about legend...
Very few people fish for panfish, during the winter, out here. They are really lazy when it comes to BG fishing - only want to fish the spawn. I'm the only trolling over deep water on the pond.

az - how far are you from Lake Havasu? or the Colorado River? There are a lot of extremely large hybrid Bluegills and some very big Redears.

Im East of Phoenix, I would say Lake Havasu is 4 hour drive.

Not sure about the spawning temps, 58 - 64 sounds more like the Redear... You are about the same distance we are, but we are coming from the west. We usually go for two or three days during the middle of the week - avoid the crowds. We fish the south end of the lake and stay at the Bluewater for the river or Havasu Springs for the lake. Haven't fished out of Havasu City yet... They have guides there.
My PB Redear is 3lb9oz and my buddy's is 4lb9oz. Biggest hybrid Bluegill I got there is 2lb6oz.
