They have an interesting article this month on bluegills and bloodworms. My waters have a lot of bloodworms in them. I'm convinced that's why red trout magnets produce so well for me.

Are these the same bloodworms sold all along the east coast? Dug from Maine marsh flats, primarily.
No, these are very different. Freshwater bloodworms are the larva of midges. They are tiny (1/2-3/4"). The article mentions they are a popular bait all over Europe. I actually fished with bloodworms in Hungary years ago. They are fished with a smaller larva called "joker". You chum with joker and fish bloodworm on the hook.
