There were gills active on the in sight beds but have fished this lake enough to know that they were not the larger of the lake .
I worked my way around the lake and found beds scattered completely down the backside. That may explain why I catch so many nice males. I was in a relaxed mood today so just enjoyed myself and didn't keep any. The jig show on the side of the fish unraveled it's self shortly after. Most decent fish were out off the weed edges. Best bite seemed to be 3' to 4' deep.
20 mph side wind finally sent me for home.
