What you're describing sounds like Carter Nelson's Rubber-Legged Dragon. His most productive colors are black and olive, and he often used yellow legs and bead chain eyes. There's a Youtube video of himn tying it.

I have tied TONS of flies for Bluegill, but I've never tied a Bream Killer. In fact, I had never heard of it, so I found a YouTube video and it's a really simple fly to tie. But the pattern called for black ultra Chenille, what looked like grey squirrel tail hair and white legs. My question is "Has anyone tried tying them up in other colors and other types of hair wing? If so, what have you tried that was effective? Anything better than the black, grey and white? What about weighting the fly? Has anyone tried that? And what about a bead head?
Thanks
GF

Here is a link to the YouTube video.
It isn't the same fly as Carter Nelson's Rubber Legged Dragon. I've tied that one before. I saw the Bream Killer mentioned in the Best Baits for Bluegills thread and did a Google search.
Thanks

Have you checked with the guys on the fly tying forum here.
I do tie them in different colors, the black, green and silver has worked well for me but the black is the best color I have used and the color I sell the most of. I tie them in size 14, 12 and 10. These are 14

PUGH TACKLE COMPANY HAVE THEM IN A VARIETY OF COLORS . THEY ARE LOCATED IN NEW ALBANY,MS.
I've tied up a couple in black. Still haven't totally zeroed in on the proper length of the legs. I'm going to experiment with tying them in a couple of other colors and when I do, I'll post a picture (if I can figure out how to do that!) But, of course, the 'gills will have the final say-so on the colors!
