The rod I had that day is a Bass Pro Shop Micro-Lite 4 piece 7 1/2' UL pack rod. It has anodized alum. up locking reel seat .(discontinued) They still make it in a 2 piece. My back up rod is a Micro Lite 8 burgundy color series 8 1/2' UL Both are almost perfect for my simple needs.
Yes the bottom fish is a shell cracker. A few have crossed with gills for a gill cracker.
