The other day we had a cool front pass that found me pulling a float tube into a strip pit at barely 50 degrees. I had a small selection of jigs and tipped w/wax worms. Seemed like the bright patterns w/pink were most favored. Water was clear. I had pulled the sonar to keep things light so it was fun just fishing for a change. I used a BPS 4 pc.UL 7.5 ' pack rod with 4lb Cabela's Pro Line mono. That rod/line combo makes these smallish gills a joy to catch. Average was around 8" and lots caught and pitched. Too lazy to carry any out the 3/4 mile hike while dragging the tube .What a great time that morning.
Good job Mike

nice fish . I found our pond to be tough the last few days .
Good post! I keep thinking of trying a tube or Kayak but at 60 and a bad back I'm a little nervous.
RM Fishin I'm 72 and find the tube relaxing. For me a float tube in Florida would be out of the question. ( think gators)
You passed the test,nice catch
Good luck and good fishing
That looks like fun for sure!

It had to have been a great way to spend the day. Thanks for the post. Love to see good gills caught from places anyone can fish and where they got big on their own.
