That is a handsome brute you got. I haven't tried glass yet but use my Micro Lite rods in the same manner to keep the fish fighting near the surface.

Glass rods are great for bream fishing.....I have a 6 ft. MicroLite glass rod from BPS....I really like it
I agree with TPM on the 8ft rod for gillin. I have a Wally Marshall ultralite signature and can use it to cast small jigs or fish with a bobber. That leverage does help when you need to turn them quickly. Might get a custom made rod in the future.

Rmoon, I have a guide service that I run on several ponds that I intensively manage for trophy bluegill, so just let me know anytime you'd like to head this way for some fishing.
My side kick and I went out today and picked out a dozen gills. They were full of milk. I kept gettin "short bites" Then I figured they were on the beds and "chasin them out". Had a blast, they were in about two to three fow. Slam up in the cypress knees or back in little niches.
