brim hot hotspot

Get the bait cubes. I use them in early spring and fall after i put my boat away and start fishing from shore. They work pretty fast too. I use the ice cubes while icefishing. They bring the fish right to you. Toss a couple near a downed tree or brushpile you can cast too. Give it about 30 minutes to bring em in, and they'll keep comin in for hours. I've noticed, over the years, that the smaller fish come first, but the bigger ones will be there a little after them. Been using them for about 5 or 6 years.

around these parts if you were to hang a dead critter right over the water, a gator would have it in a minute flat.

Years ago My dad used to Sink sq bails of hay. And the Bream & crappie loved them.
Always in creeks.
I may need to look into that.
Then hang some road kill also.

Same here. Or a moccasin or an otter. No stringers either or open buckets or open live wells or open coolers and so on. Close and seal everything here in Florida or trouble will come knocking. I think they can smell fish like we can, only better :). Gar just love to eat stringers of fish also.

Be sly and take no chances.....
Way before you go fishing, scrape the labels off the dogfood cans and wrap the cans with coathangers. Have one end of the coathanger for tying the can to a bush limb. Then, you spray paint the whole thing (including the coat hanger) a dark green. Let it dry for a few days.
Punch the holes in the cans when you're on the water and ready to hang them up of course. When you hang the can in a bush it will be invisble to other fishermen and it will reduce your chances of them hitting on your spots.
I have turned an entire stretch of shoreline into a fish factory by doing this and spotting the cans here and there.
Around this place, the "bass pros" are worse than the panfish guys. They will throw a GPS waypoint on your areas faster than you can blink an eye almost. Then they'll catch all the bluegill they can, all the time belittling "those brim fishermen" as being beneath them and "unworthy" etc etc etc.
