Yesterday, my fishing partner and I decided to visit a country farm - with two ponds on the property - that we haven't fished in over 15 years. The surrounding area sure was different, but the bluegill fishing was every bit as fun as I remember it.
We caught somewhere in the neighborhood of 3 dozen bluegills - the majority of which were in the 6 inch range. All were caught on either homemade miniature spoons or Northland's Fire-Fly jigs. More out of curiosity than anything else, I alternated between tipping the spoon that I used with both meal worms and Berkley PowerBait Crappie Nibbles. On this particular day, the fish greatly preferred the spoon tipped with meal worms.
Overall, we had a wonderful day. I can’t wait until the next opportunity to return to another childhood fishing destination presents itself![]()
