how do you fish them? can you fish them on an ultralight spinning rod?
Yes, those are good for topwater action.
But don't neglect these subsurface flies:

They're all made for the fly rod, but you can cast them on a spinning rod with a casting bubble like this:

1 inch (the smallest) twister tails on a 1/80, 1/64, or 1/32 oz jighead that has NO collar or barb. Excellent colors are chartreuse, white, yellow - or watermelon, motor oil, or black in clear water.

Crappiemagnet thanks for that site info. I was looking for a tube body that my buddy had and he would never tell me where he got them. This site had almost the identical body style. He's gonna be upset when I show up at home in September and have him look at what I got.
Rooster tails (1/24th oz) and beetle spins are all I use when I'm not slingin' popping bugs with my fly rod. Usually combinations of black and yellow seem to work best for me. Good luck.
Rebel tiny crawfish. They absolutely hammer then!
