I've never been to the Rez, but here in north MS small 1/32 oz and 1/64 oz beetles work very good, sometimes better than crickets. I fish them on an ultralight rig with 2 lb test mono. Also, 1" twister tails on 1/32 oz jig heads. My favorite colors in order are: black, white, yellow, green, and chartruese. Usually can't go wrong with black, but sometimes they'll want another color more. A small safety-pin spinner on the jig never hurts if there are lots of weeds and snags in the area, but I actually catch more without the spinner and get more shellcrackers on a slow retrieve just above the bottom. On shallow flats I'll fish them super slow under a bobber.

Wax worm threaded on the hook of a Pop-eye jig .... black, black/white, brown, or chartreuse colored feathers. Tightline them for deep presentations, or put them under a very small float for shallower presentations.
My reply post in this thread : http://www.crappie.com/crappie/main-...peye-jigs.html ... tells you what they are & where I get mine. But, it's from 2005, so I'm not sure about the availability of any of the Popeye Special jigs ... but, the Cabin Creek version is still available. You may even have some local versions available, if not the Cabin Creek ones, in your local tackle outlets.
