    Default Cane Pole Hook Holder

Anybody know where I can buy or how I could make some sort of doo-dad to go on the butt of a cane pole to hold the hook so the line won't get tangled?
    Thanks

I use what's called a "winder". It's a little piece of plastic about six inches long. You put the hook in one of the little holes and wrap the line around it. Then, you just put the winder against the pole and use a rubber band to hold the whole thing together. When you're ready to fish, you take the rubber band off, the winder drops and unwinds the line, and you're ready to fish.

The ones I use are for very slim European floats. You could probably make something similar to match the float you use. Here's a pic of the winder:

Get some elecrical wire ties that have a molded in eye on them for mounting with a bolt or screw. Put it on one of the joints tighten up instant hook holder. Use em on Green carp poles with no hook holder. Grandpa did what G said drill hole insert hook.

Don't use cane poles any longer, but when we did, we added line to them that was about 2 ft. longer than the pole and would hold the line in one hand and pole in the other. Roll the pole wrapping the line around the pole until the hook was about 3 inches shorter than the pole and hook the hook in the end of the pole. Will not come a loose and poles and lines are less likely to get tangled. It always worked for us.

My dad would make a couple rounds of electrical about 4" from butt, twist line around pole to take up the lenght and hook into the tape. I didnt know there was any other way.
If you dont have time to do it right the first time, when are you going to find time time to fix it.

I've been trying to find a thing I bought years ago. It is a small cork disk encased in a metal disk with a small spring that goes around the pole. The spring thing lets you slide it up and down the pole to adjust to the length of your line. I am not doing too good a job describing it but it was just what the doc ordered.
