Great little pack
I always thought bettle spins would be to big for bluegill, especially the small ones(8" or less).
they are definatly not too big. Bill Dance was using them on some really old video I once saw. I use a jig and spinner, they are bigger than the beetle and I catch a mess of fish.
I found a hole loaded with bream but they would not touch a beetle spin. I fished for 2 hours and only got 1 fish. I went back today with live worms and caught 91 in 3 hours. I like the beetle spin but it's hard to beat live bait.
What would be the ideal cover to hit with a Spin?
Well, just got back, it drizzled on me while 'gill hunting! I caught seven in three and a half hours in dreary conditions on spinners. Three were on my 1/16 white rooster tail, four on a size 0 silver shiner Vibrax Blue Fox. All in all, also caught six SMALL bass. Size on the gills ranged from 4-7". Not bad, just wish I knew where to fish to catch more larger ones.
gill hunting!!!!!! I like that!!!!!!!
It just came to me...just like the notion to try a small 'spin for bluegills in the rain along a moss bed with logs under it...yeah...don't ask.
