It's hard to tell from the pic how big they are, but I'm sure you could catch some gills on them. I would just cast them out and count them down to different depths until you found the fish. Reel back slowly.

Are these lures good for blue gill and red ear?How would you rig them from shore?I got them from bass pro shops.

they're all about an inch and a half.So i just put however many split shots i want a foot and a half away from the lure?
I use the 1/16 oz. and the 1/8 oz. ones by theirselves, I do not use splitshot or other weights.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

I used them at Lake Alamo in Arizona and the Crappie & Bass ate them up. Good baits...

just tie em on and retrieve slowly back to you. i also picked some up a few weeks ago and used them today to catch some gills and crappie
Gonzo ... that "may" have more to do with your rod length &/or reel's spool size, than the 4lb Maxima line. To get a really long cast out, you best have a 7-8ft rod & a 1500 series or larger reel (something with a wide line spool or longcast style spool).
Those Stump Jumpers look to be 1/16oz ... so that's probably about as big as you'd want to go. I prefer the marabou Roadrunners, myself ... and I even cut the marabou tail down on them (about 1/2 way from the tip of the tail & the bend of the hook). If you get hits, but can't seem to get a hook in the fish .... remove those thick tubes & replace them with a smaller plastic grub (same colors, if possible). Bluegill are notorius for grabbing fins & tails of baitfish, and biting off bits & chunks until they cripple or kill it ... then trying to swallow it. Sometimes it is the smaller ones doing it, but not always.
Also ... those baits, in your pic, are "weedless" style ... so, whatever could get the bait in their mouth, would have to have a mouth big enough to take the whole body of the jig into it, plus the weedguard. Otherwise, they're probably going to just pick & peck on the plastic tails. The weedguards look to be metal/wire ... so if you leave them on there, be sure & bend them down to where they're just a hair above the hook point. They'll still be weedless, but the fish won't have to open as wide to get the bait in their mouth Rofl

dont use a stiff rod either.....even a shorter 5' or 6' rod with tip that got some "whip" or "tip action" to it will cast a 1/16th plenty far. If I'm in tight spots thats what i use, but if i'v got plenty of room to cast i use a 7' fly rod with an ultra light spinning reel
I can only wish to be as good as my dog thinks I am
