What description is this of bluegill or crappie or sunfish ?...

Yesterday I went fishing and caught what I thought was a bluegill it had yellow spots on it and red around both of it's eyes, what kind of fish do you think this was ?....Doh

It could be a hybrid. Without a picture, there's no way to tell. Threads like this pop up from time to time and, even with pictures, there's never any agreement on what the fish is.

I'm guessing you're talking about a Warmouth. Only fish I know that has yellow markings & "red" eyes. Check thru this PDF file & see if you can spot a fish that looks like yours : http://www.kdfwr.state.ky.us/pdf/kyfishid.pdf
