Gills Be Biting
Just wanting to share some info and brag a little bit.
So here in Central IL its 40 degrees out with a little breeze so its chilli and past two days I have not been able to fish due to rain on saturday and some rain sunday but mainly to cold to bother going out. But today I was detirmened to go panfishing. So got out to the pond around 1:30 and fished to about 3.....caught 13 keeper/handsize gills, a 12" crappie and a 16" bass, all on one bait. Rig was an UL setup with 4lb line. The magic lure was a 1/64oz Lindy Nipper with a white head/red tie/black hair and I tipped it with a Gulp Alive Wax Worm(one worm lasted me the whole time), about 2-3' under a small ball bobber. Would cast out and let it set for 30secs to 1min then reel it in about a foot, nice in slow, then let it sit for another 30secs to 1min and this would go on for a few minutes then recast. I caught all the fish in water depths between 3-6 feet on Shallow Flats, Points, and Ledges.
If any of you guys are having any luck catching Gills right now would love to know what you are using and doing.
Thanks
Zack
