jumping bluegill
Just checking to see if any of you have had the same experience I used to have when fishing for bluegill. I was throwing small tubes on 1/32 oz. jigheads and doing pretty well. Each hookup resulting in a nice bluegill heading to the bottom and swimming in circles.
Fishing was good so I stayed till it was dark, dark. I decided to make a few more casts in the bluegill bed and wham, the fish kept hitting. The only difference was now that it was dark, each time I set the hook, the bluegills would jump one time and then try to bury down to the bottom. It happened on several trips.
I didn't know bluegill would bite after dark and I for sure didn't know this would trigger them into jumping for me. Anyone else ever experience this?
