Sliders for big gills
We have a pond that is loaded with 6" to 10" bluegill. We were catching a few with worms and crickets. A couple of weeks ago I tied on a 1/32 or 1/48 oz head (not sure) with a black/char Slider and started SMOKIN' them! It was cloudy and raining on and off all day. The were very aggressive but not on beds. I caught them in 3' to 14' of water at all depths. They would hit on the fall or on the slow roll retrieve. The bigger ones would hit on the fall.
This past weekend a cold front came through MS and the bite was light and relatively slow. We change the retrieve to a bump, bump fall and they went nuts again. They can't seem to resist the little paddle tail. It quivers on the fall. I have tried twister tails and roadrunners with little success.
The funny thing is I have had the Sliders for a couple of years and never really used them. That will change
