Glad I found this great pan fish forum. Although I've been an avid recreational LM bass guy for many years here in the central Florids area I've never really done any bluegill or spec fishing. Like many of you my first introduction to the world of fishing was as a young kid with my dad going for bluegills, sunfish, etc in the many farm ponds and gravel pits in central IN.
Anyway, my two grandsons Andrew and Austin (8 and 11) were staying over this past weekend and I ask if they'd like to go fishing while they were here so my wife and I ran out to GM and picked up a couple of little Quantum rod and reel combo's they had on special for $29 bucks. We picked up some split shot, #10 hooks, couple very smlall slip bobers and some grubs. Anyway, we had a ball catching some nice lbluegills and then Andrew (the 8 yr old) ask if he could try my casting rod? I was using a Gambler Flappin n Shad and you guessed it .....with the help of his granny and grandpa with no net landed that rascal and you talk about an excited young man.....do I need to say more????
:D
