That reminds me of how good a bait grass shrimp can be. I can remember a trip where if you tipped your jig with a grass shrimp you were guaranteed a bite. I haven't done it in years, only because I was out of the fishing scene for a time, but I used to go catch them in the ditches then put them on a tray and sprinkle heavily with salt to preserve them and store them in the freezer. Let me tell ya something, better that crappie nibbles. The salt toughens them up and they leave a great scent trail.
