Cooters love bluegills and I love cooters. Problem here is gators!!! you have to fight with them to get the fish in the boat sometimes.

we keep a stringer on hand but unless we catch a catfish too big to fit in
our fish basket we never take it out of the tackle bag we like to use the floating fish baskets they work well for crappie and bluegill
Yea pulled a few out holding on to fish on the stringer. I work at a steel mill. I've eaten alot of different stuff. You gotta try something different at least once.Quote:

a cotter is a turtle and the last time i used a stringer was when i was 10 almost 30 years ago
I've still got one of those safetypin type stringers with the clips on a chain. Last time I used it was to drag the river bottom to retreve my fishin rod the the grandson dropped overboard. Just tied it to the anchor line and dragged it across the bottom a few times till I snagged it. :p
I always use a stringer.Used a fish basket for a while but switched back to the stringer because fish managed to escape from the basket. one time I caught a bluegill and put it on the stringer.When i pulled it out of the water somethin' had taken a chunk off the fish.figured it was a bass,catfish,or crayfish since i was fishing in riprap.
Yea,them bluegills that are stuck in a basket get mighty clever,lol.
