I would like to find a 1500 yd bulk spool of 8lb hi vis Power Pro. I'm thinking that with the economy in tough shape there would be some available at a better price.
Has anyone found a reputable source of the bulk spools?
This has become my favorite panfish line.

Looked around on the web and can only find reference to PP line in 60, 80 lb test in the 1500 spools. Everything else is &6.99 and up

illinoisgiller, I am curious about this power pro 8 lb. why do you like it so much? and do you tie straight to the jig, sans leader? I am kinda tired of twisting line with mono. the company I work for makes the spectra fiber, about 5 miles from the plant where I work, they call it the tech center. however it is in raw form, and another co. buys it and refines it.

Redear, I ,my son, wife, and a couple serious fishermen I know have been using Power Pro for the last couple years. I like it because I got tired of loosing so many jigs to deep wood.
I fish lots of wood in lakes, and floating vegitation in our local canal.
When it comes to deep open water I much favor the #4 super Silver Thread copolymar. It has stretch, but is a joy to catch 3/4lb+ gills on with light tackle.
I tie Power Pro #8 lb directly to the jig w/palamar knot. I have yet to have a problem with fish shying from it that I know of.. I have tried every color ,but prefer Hi Vis Yellow simply because my old eyes can see it better.
Most of my gilling is done with a light tipped 8 1/2' 3 wt. blank made to a hybrid spinning rod. I'm sure this long light rod helps some as Power Pro has literally no stretch ,and the long rod lessens the shock some.
All is not perfect though. It takes a while to learn to avoid rod tip wraps for the most part, and will still get some. It is the same problem on the jig end. If float fishing and get the shot too far from the jig, you can pretty much count on the jig wrapping on the float when long casting. When trying to lob cast with 3 or 4' of line hanging you can pretty much count on a mess.
The line as it comes off the spool is a little stiff. Not to the point of not usable, just a little stiffer than I would like. It seems the more use it gets the better it gets .
I've heard a lot of nightmare stories about people getting cut trying to pull off hang ups. When I'm hung solid with panfish jigs, I just thumb the spool and pull it off. Then I give my rig a long cast to make sure there isn't any line buried in the spool. Works fine for me .
It is best to carry sissors for cutting it.The orange handled childs sissors work well and when they get a bit dull I give them a swipe across the little band sander. I have a couple pair of the little Bass Pro serrated ones, but they got dull eventually and sharpened them also.
I tried moving down in line test but wasn't satisfied with knot strength. Most cases, I couldn't get a 1/80 oz on #8 bronze off wood. It would pop at the palomar knot.
I did start off using Fireline and the flatness of it seemed to fray more than I liked. Just my opinion and haven't tried any other brands.
As one can tell, I'm a bit opinionated about this stuff. It seems to be working for the way I fish but the price issues are haunting me. lol Illinoisgiller

I get 1500 yd spool from ebay but I use 30/8 to pull crankbaits. The largest spool of 8lb I could find on there was 300 yds.
