Yesterday we broke into small pieces a large trash bag full of coontail and added to the lake. The small pieces will grow into mature plants break apart and continue to reproduce. Once this becomes established the coontail will provide the fry a place to hide and grow. Hopefully the bass that we recently introduced will spawn and their fry will survive and start reducing the sunfish fry. The sunfish have not spawned yet although it should be on the next moon phase.
The next project for this lake will be the addition of a load of pea gravel to the spawning banks to allow the crappie a proper spawning area. It appears that they do not have a good area to spawn in. This gravel area will aid in spawning for all species in the lake.
The next project will be to fish to dickens out of the pond to add a few bags of fillets to our freezer and reap the rewards of our spring efforts.:D WWWWOOOOOOOOHHHHHHOOOOOOOO.
