Absolute best time for bank fishing for Crappie?

I'm wanting to plan a Father/Son camping trip for our church to a local lake, however, I'd like to go when its the best time to catch crappie from the bank? I don't want the kids and dads who don't fish normally to get skunked. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I know fishing isn't always predictable, but if you had to pick one time when you were confident, when would it be?

I'd give it another couple weeks before you schedule the trip. I went fishing yesterday and caught 3 like 7 inch black bass not many crappie were caught the small fish have started moving in to the shallows its not long before the sandies start running its almost primetime!!!!

Preach; This time of year in March we always did the best around 4 pm till dark, they seem to pull up to the shallows to feed more at that time...hope this helps.

My experience has been that the best time to bank fish in Oklahoma is in Mid-April. Yes you can catch them earlier, but if I was planning a 1 shot trip I would wait until then. It always depends on temperature and lake levels. Good luck.

yea it always seems to get more consistent around mid april. by then they will be settled into the spawn and on the banks for sure.

Hard to say for sure. If it's a big lake, it'll be good 'till the end of April. If it's a smaller (shallower) lake, it'll start/end a little earlier 'cause the water warms faster. Considering the cold snap we're supposed to get this week, I'd say March 27th at the earliest, April 18th at the latest. Just my opinion.

Dad was telling me the other day that the last week of April is usually always good down at Eufaula. I think he said it would be around the time of a full moon. Dad is always right about crappie fishin. Give or take a flood or two.
