The rain on Friday changed our plans a little. We did not get to the lake until Saturday afternoon, and after driving through the boat ramp parking lot, we decided to stay off the lake until Sunday morning. We were able to get out Sunday morning. We did not fish too hard and so did not catch a limit. But, thanks to your advice, we did get on some crappie and caught a few. I have not been on Kaw since I was a kid. I forgot how pretty the lake is. My wife and I are planning a return trip for July. We would like to fish a little harder next time and maybe catch a limit. Would also like to try to catch a few catfish. Thanks again for the helpful tips. I really appreciate it. If we ever manage to run in to one another around the lake, I would be happy to buy you a beer. Cheers!
Glad you caught some fish

First time at Kaw Lake this coming weekend. Any suggestions fishing from the bank around the Washunga area?
For crappie it will be tough from the bank. If you like catching sandbass they are hitting the top off of points in the mornings and evenings. There is a good point south of washunga campground about 1/4 mile that's really good in the evenings. You can wade out a ways and catch them normally. Use slip corks above a jig or throw curly tails and lipless crankbaits you should do well
Got out early this morning and it was already hot. Caught some nice fish before a thunderstorm ran everyone off the lake.
You sure did! Thanks for keeping us motivated & informed, Tim.

Since the posts has almost became non-existent on here anymore I thought I would share a recent trip with some good friends from my church I took fishing a couple days ago. I know it's not crappie but it was their trip of a lifetime. We had a raffle at church for some people that had some unforeseen medical expenses and these fellas won the raffle for a one day fishing trip with me on Kaw. They both caught their biggest fish ever and took home a lot of great fillets. This is what we kept and released several more. It was a great cause and a great trip.
How awesome is that, Tim?! Thank you for giving so generously of your time & talents like that!
