So I pull up to one of my favorite crappie holes. I use the Lowrance HDS and scan to see the fish. Yep, they're some home plus several shad balls. Fish the 50-100 yard area and it's a feast.....for 15-30 minutes. Double dippin' and the thump was hard. Then nothing. I tried shallow, deep, changes colors, cast and drag, jig under bobber.....nuttin. Wind was horrible but somehow either I messed em up or they all got lockjaw at once. It went from feast to famine.
Winger thanked you for this post
We've all had that happen. That, and the times you get all excited when a huge crappie hits on the first drop of the day, and then.......nothing.
Last time I experienced this it was also really windy, but when they shut down I was able to switch to a small 3/4" jig and get a couple of dinks to bite and then I could go back to the larger 2 1/2" to 3" jig size and pick up a keeper or two. It was like this for about two hours and when the wind would let up so did the bite.
They just wanted the next guy to have some luck too!!!
