I must say when I pulled my first TT jig out I was a bit surprised as to the length of the weed guard and immediately went to trimming it back. But now I'm wondering what the reason is that TT makes it that long; and should I even be trimming on it at all? Since it's not by mistake is there some test research that supports the extra long guards?

I make mine with one length sized fiberguard so that I can cover a variety of hooks from size 2 to 2/0. No need having various length fiberguards for various sizes of hooks. Up to the user to trim them how they like. There is no one right way as far as I'm concerned.
