The Conejos is a favorite of mine but I stay in Chama so the wife will have something to do while I'm fishing. It's just over the hill in Colorado. The area up near Rio Grande reservoir is another favorite. I hike into the wilderness area to fish. We saw lots of wildlife on our short trip. Elk, deer, bear, antelope, porcupine, beaver and even a snake on the highway at altitude (sorta unusual.) The fishing is actually secondary - we just enjoy the mountains and great weather.
Now...back to still slow (and hot.)
