One thing to watch for on the upper Rio Grande is a now active mine above the reservoir. I am not sure exactly where its at but the river turns milky white after they fire up operations. The section I fished would got hit about 9 am. I didnt know what the deal was at first. After getting up early and catching some brown trout, I was thinking "what is wrong with these fish, why are they silver?" then the river turned milky white for the rest of the day...:banghead

Thanks for the heads up about the upper Rio Grande. I took it off my list. I'm pretty sure we are going to Salida from NM. We have some family ties there now.

Dennis, I probably won't fish Cabresto as I prefer streams and will spend much of my time at the Chili week in Red River. Brookies are real prolific in Colorado (although usually small due to where they like to be.) I've caught a bunch of them.

Cool. I think a lot of those that fish Cabresto do so in the inlet where the stream comes in. The lake appeared to be several feet low when we were there, so inflow wasn't that good. They have been experiencing a high country drought as well as we have here in the flatland.

Nice mess for a "slow" day...
