Yeah I'm with reaper on this. If I'm bobber fishing it would most likely be during the spawn and in the shallow. A spring bobber will handle this just fine and way easier to set up. To me a slip bobber would be more for deep water fishing Where it would be impossible to have a spring bobber 25' up your line.
True. But I've been fishing deeper in the morning without a bobber because I'm either spider rigging or double dipping. As the water temp warms up I want to go shallow and not have to cut off and re-tie. I ordered some of the slip on bobbers I posted on earlier. I hope they'll work.Quote:

Interesting idea -- hope they work. I ordered 2 large, 2 medium, 1 stopper and refill.
FYI, and I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier, the Rocket Bobber can be used both as a clip on or slip bobber and no need cutting the line. You simple rotate the wire hook to either setting. I have several of these I bought off Crappie Assassin Jigs.
For shallow fishing, the Thill Mini Shy Bite is terrific. It requires no knots and does not create a weak spot in your line where it clips on. It is wooden and is held on the line by two rubber "bands". It is easily readjusted for depth. An added bonus is that it sinks very, very slowly with a 1/8 oz. jig if not retrieved. That technique has nailed them when other guys are only getting sporadic bites. Used with 4 lb. line, it casts pretty good distances.
I got the Mini and the small in. They work great! I recommend them. So many times while working the bank i want to cast n drag a little. in about 3 seconds i have made the change. The stops work great. I am using PP 2/10. Stops generally do not stick to these. The mini is mini. it supports about a 1/16oz jig head and plastic. The small just supports a 1/8oz TimmyTom with a blade and 3 inch bait. I will order some mediums and let you know how much weight they support. Great concept and great product!

Stopper knot on 2/10
I'll take some 12 lb mono and a short piece of grooved coffee stirrer and tie on a stopper knot. They work fine for me.
I agree and have used them. Advantage to these, you do not have to cut your line to slip the line through. these clamp on, do not crush your line, are fully movable to different depths, and takes about 4 seconds.
Just got my order in today , they look really good. Ordered the mini and small. Will probably order the medium in the near future.
