I wish I could say I've used it lot's but with all the rain I haven't been on the water in a while. I did use it extensively on my last trip to Eufaula and never had any problem with battery life. In fact I ran two days without charging and still had lots of power. That was a mix of strolling and using the anchor mode. Love it, so far - get one!

Okay, I am convinced that the xi5 is great in anchor mode. How is it at fishing standing timber where I want to get close enuf to dip the tree trunks? I have heard that it is too responsive for some- is that a problem for any of you xi5 owners? I hope I am explaining my concern clearly- can I turn in a tight circle in a pretty smooth fashion?
Ken Roberson is getting rid of his because he like fishing standing timber hold two rods and does not like the foot control. He told me the anchor mode is not that great in the trees. I installed and operated an XI5 on my Oologah tournament partners boat. I used the remote hanging from a lanyard and loved it. I cannot do two rods at once for very long so I usually will use one rod switching off due to shoulder and elbow problems. Bobby and I never fished standing timber.
We used the anchor mode when sitting over brush and as long as there is a steady win, light or strong, it works great for that. We sat over some brush that was not directly in the wind and it would switch around which in turn caused the tail of his boat to do 180 from time to time. This kept me adjusting our position every now and then but the great thing about the XI5 is adjusting while in anchor mode. Whatever direction the boat is facing, all one has to do is hit the up,down,left,right button to move in 5' increments. Want to adust 10' back? Hit the down button twice.
Ken's not happy with his because it does not work for his particular wants and needs, I myself can't wait to own one after using one for the week and a half prior to the Oologah Tourney.
As far as turning in a tight circle, you cant back it straight up, then swing it either direction, tight circles no prob.

Reaper, can you use the remote and foot control at the same time? Or just one or the other? I recall the MK iPilot that I had didn't even have a foot control option, you had to use the remote connected to a lanyard...I got used to it but, wanted a foot control.
Also, is the foot control the same slim design that MG has had for a few years now? To me they are a lot more comfortable than the big bulky cable steer foot control on my MK Fortrex. Curious too if both foot and remote come with the unit or is one optional...ie: extra price!
Both the foot and remote controls come standard with the Pinpoint Xi5. I find the anchor mode to work well for me fishing standing timber (with one pole), brushpiles or bridge pilings. Reaper hit it dead on as far as the remote, the jog feature and the anchor mode letting the boat swing depending upon the wind. Remember, it's run by GPS and although the government allows the accuracy to be much better now GPS still is only accurate down to a few feet or so normally. I believe the foot control is the same size as I had on a previous MG. I much prefer the remote on the lanyard as I like to fish from anywhere on the boat and, like Reaper, rarely use two rods at once. I also do not care for the foot control much because I sit the majority of the time and I think it's more comfortable to use standing. I haven't taken my foot control out of the storage compartment in my last several trips. When I do, the battery will probably be dead as it beeps when you turn it on or off and I can't hear it (carry extra batteries.) Recently, while pulling some cranks I used the heading mode and found it to work very well also. For my style fishing I believe the Xi5 is the single best accessory I have put on my Lund since I got it almost 8 years ago.

Floyd, I guess we just fish a little differently than each other. I fish exclusively from the front of my Lund, I guess due to the fact I have a cable steer tm.
I assume the foot control is wireless? I never fish standing up either, always sitting in my front seat. The MG foot control is much smaller that the MK which would free up a lot of room in the bow and I could move it anywhere else on the boat if so desired. From every report I've see, the Xi5 is the only way to go!
The foot control is wireless. I spider rig and push cranks and jigs from the front. I pull cranks and jigs from the rear and I fish standing timber, brushpiles and pilings from wherever I want to be. I only have 2D and DownVu up front so I like to work from the center of the boat and be able to use my SideVu as well as the others. Like Reaper, you need to spend a day or so with one to decide if it's for you or not.
My wife's got a quilt show at Eufaula on Saturday, 5 Sep and I'll have to be near the fifth wheel to watch the dogs that day. Not a problem cause I don't fish on the weekends anyway. But, the Thursday or Friday before that I'm thinking about running down to Wister for a day (depending on the weather.) The other day Eufaula was so nasty I didn't even want to fish it. Maybe, we could meet at Wister and you could play with the TM.
