It was neat PrefersShiners!!
It was a long haul starting at 5:30 am but, well worth the drive! Thanks to Dave for getting it put together and acting as MC, great job! I'm hoping it was just the first of many to follow on a semi regular basis.
I'm thinking someone is going to have to learn sign language for Iken? He didn't even report on his test on his cold weather gear.
I did come away wondering is others would have an interest in starting a chapter of CAT like the original started a few years ago in texas? Crappie Anglers of Texas for anyone that doesn't know what CAT stands for? They have a very successful group now.
It was good seeing you again at the coffee, OBob! Hopefully, by our next get together at the Winter camp I'll be able to use my hearing aids. It's less than a month away now.
I've followed the CAT group some over the last few years. It is a very successful organization and has great seminars and scholarship activities. I sorta keep up with the Texas fishing scene because of the years I lived down in Baja Oklahoma. It was also a great state for info on Kayak fishing. I would be willing to join something along that line here in Oklahoma but my bet is we wouldn't be nearly as successful as Texas. For one thing Texas has many more people to draw from. In Oklahoma the folks involved in the crappie camp group and the tournament group would be the majority of the membership. Our Crappie.com contingent is about what you would get. I also feel the Texas group is a little more socially oriented than up here. There are many crappie fishermen in Oklahoma that really don't join groups. Like I said, I would be willing to join if someone could get it kicked off. I think it would be great with more state wide involvement in crappie fishing. Maybe we could discuss that at our winter camp. The Wister camp would also be good because we have our camp and tournament scheduled at the same time and location.
Overall, I'm not really interested in fishing tournaments - I prefer to fish on my schedule. Having said that, I have been thinking of paying the tournament membership fee even tho' I may never fish one. I would like to see the Okie CDC tournaments be more successful than have been. My experience with them was great at the Gaines Creek challenge but much less enjoyable at the Keystone and Nav channel tourneys. I believe it was mostly because of the large turnout at Gaines Creek. There are a few of the folks that are involved in both contingents but not many. I may just drive up to Kaw next Saturday to see what's going on with the tournament.
Gilmore tackle Company (870) 294-5337, Gilmore Tackle Company is sending a package of baits and catalogues to be given away at the Hugo Camp.
At the coffee yesterday I sat next to Pappa and heard him ask for peanut butter with his breakfast. Then watched as he spread it on his pancakes with syrup. Never seen that before...guess I've had a sheltered life. Anyway my wife wanted pancakes for breakfast today. I'm not a "sweets" person so never rally cared for pancakes. I tried it. I like it.

Floyd, you took me back to when I was a kid (about a hundred years ago), when my Dad would get up first and make pancakes. I can just smell the pancakes, peanut butter (which he loved on his flapjacks), the ham sizzling on the skillet, and the strong smell of coffee percolating in the pot. Those smells and sounds would draw you out of bed in a flash, mouth watering. Good memories.
Oh dear, now Walmart is going to have a run on crunchy.
I thought everybody born before 1950 eat peanut butter on there pancakes. I would take a jar to a little café I eat breakfast at and they kept it there for me. This was before you could get it at a breakfast café. Where I normally have coffee every morning charges $0.69 for a small plastic container now.
I tried pancakes without peanut butter once. Thought it was like biscuits without gravy. I always ask the waitress for PB. If they have it I always order a pancake. Selsom do I finish it but it's kind of a breakfast desert, a finishing touch. Glad you like it Floyd
