Default Arkansas River arm of Kaw?

Anyone ever fish the area? On Google Earth it looks really shallow but Navionics shows a pretty deep channel all the way up past the bridge. Can you get a boat up that far? What is the fishing like up there? Looks like lots of sunken trees and deep holes? Any times of year better than others?

BTW, I've never been above Coon Creek Cove on that side of the lake so info on anything above that would be helpful even though I'm mainly asking about the river above Bear Creek.

Check out Bing maps Achiro. The satellite aerial view they have of upper Kaw was taken at a time with a very low water level. I think you can get all the info you need from that.

When the lake is normal its less than 6 inches deep in channel up past bear creek, river actually dumps in on far west bank, most maps you look at show it coming in above bear creek, main part of whats left of chanel dumps into lake (flats) about even with bear creek, would be very hard to get north of there unless its up like it is now but even if you do theres only a few spots that wouldnt require an airboat or jet drive,, we even tried the big mud buddys and they wont go through the silt flats like they show on their comercials.. Its up a few feet now and would be the best time to try to make it up there, but be very careful when going north of coon creek area there are alot of large submerged logs up there in the silt, Hope this helps you bud message me if you need any more specifics.

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for. I always thought it was shallow but like I said, the Navionics map shows it much deeper.

When you look at it on bing maps you see that it is silted in much more than what Navionics indicates. Usually I have found Navionics online to be very reliable, this is the first time I have seen it this wrong.

I learned Navionics counts on customers to log sonar wherever they are to their memory card and then share that information with them to enable them to up date their lake maps.

Achiro, how far north are you wanting to go? if you go north of the bridge up to the firt large bend back east there is a boat launch right there. Have not been there in a long time but I know guys who launch there and noddle that stretch and also ones who set limb lines up and down the banks and use that launch. again, I have not been there in a long time. I can say the river is very shallow south of the bridge. I have walked all the way across it when noodling up there and i have been stuck on sand bars up there where i had to get out and push boat to get out. Some good fishing up that way though for cats when the water rises.

Not trying to get anywhere specific, I know that the creek on the other arm can be good for crappie at times and was wondering about that side.
