That time of year again for top water striper action on Beaver Lake in Arkansas. Wish they could grow these suckers in Tenkiller. Pic of the smallest, 23", and the largest, 33". Caught 4 of them this year. Fishing was tough. They just don't seem to be schooling and breaking much. At least not where I could think of to look.

Someday soon I plan to get over there and try and catch at least one of those beasts(a bucket list trip for me)
We do not want them in Tenkiller just sayin. I have caught them up to 28# below the dam at the mouth of the Arkansas in March. As close as I want to see them to Tenkiller. Lol. Ought to try them on ultra lite tackle in running water. Talking about a blast. 6' Lite Action Rod, Shimano 2500 series reel with 250yds of 6lb Line, 5/16 jig with 3/0 hook, and 3" sassy shad. Hang on and get on the trolling motor......Ranger

You think that till you take your little girl along and she gets to reel one of these monsters in. It's hard to get her to enjoy catching crappie again after this. "Daddy, these fish are so little, can't we go after the big ones again?" Course I also can't take her out and catch 350 crappie in a day on tenkiller like EB and Ranger can.
You must be talking about one of EB or Rangers off days!! LOL

My little girl was very upset with me on this trip. First big one we hooked. She saw it explode on the bait and yelled "FISH ON!" I handed her the pole and the fight was on. She finally got it to the boat and as I tried to net it, it was too big. It started sliding back out of the net and wouldn't you know it, the hooks got caught on the net and the fish gave a big splash. We got wet, the fish swam away, 3 treble hooks tangled all up in the net and Ashley just looks at me like "What the hell dad!" Forget about the fact that I found us fish to catch when no one else could. I was a bad daddy!!
So I hook her a second one. This one bigger than the first. FISH ON! She screams and comes to get the rod. I hand it to her and she fights this fish for 30 minutes. I even have to help hold the rod as she says her arms and stomach are hurting. These things are a beast for an 11 year old girl. The fish comes to the surface and I tell her go easy. Go easy, it's belly hooked. She almost has it close enough to the boat to net and POP, the hooks rip out of the belly. She just looks at me again and goes back to the back of the boat. That afternoon she wants to go back to school to finish out the week.
No pics this year for shirts Redge. Lol. But she did have fun. I sent her some pics of others I caught after she was back home. "Those are nice dad, not as big as mine were but maybe if you keep fishing you'll get a big one too".
Thanks pumpkin...
