Some advice

I use Ranger's version a lot also - sometimes the Huckabee - sometimes Rangers. Really don't think much about it at the time. Just whatever the fingers do. As far as using line I do go up the line lots, on purpose. I like to keep it fresh and since I use only Viscious I can get 1500-2300 yards for the price of some 300 yards filler spools. I keep my line fresh all the time. Another knot I use, although not a loop is an old fly fishing knot - the Davy knot. very quick and easy and quite strong.

I tried that loop knot today ans its awsome using double jigs the knot I used before u guys posted this one my loop would go away when I got a bite or hung up . It workks great I used Huckabee knot today I love it I missed so many fish before I tied this knot . Thanks guys !! I'm finally catching more fish

Back when I fished braid, I always used a palomar knot. Since going exclusively to mono, I always use the Huckabee knot except when dock shooting and then I use the palomar knot again.
Like Floyd said above, I always strip off at least a yard or of line to keep it fresh. Mono is not that expensive and I'd rather spend the money than lose a trophy fish! I mean 1500 yards of 6# HiVis Mr Crappie mono is $6.99!

Reaper is right about the blue gill and rock bass (or perch). if you want to check it out for sure, put a half inch power bait grub on a small (size 16-18 or so) hook. I use that to catch very small BGs and perch to use for catfish.
Another advantage of that loop knot is that it keeps the jig horizontal. If you tie the tight knot (usually a palomar) on the eye of the hook, the first fish or snag will pull the line forward to where the jig will sit vertically instead of horizontally. I don't know how many fishermen I have seen who wondered why they weren't getting bit, when those around them were getting em good. If you use the tight knot, always make sure that the line is perpendicular to the shank of the hook when pulled tight.

Yep, you are absolutely correct and before I started using a loop knot, I was always checking my jig to make sure it
would hang properly but, knot anymore!!

I was using a spring bobber. It would get caught in the spring. Of course I was zinging it a good distance every cast. I'm sure with a smaller cast and way less wind it wouldn't have done this.

Doc;l Try this with braid on riggin spring bobbers. Hold the button to keep the hook out and wrap that braid around it 5-6 times,...it wont slip and will hold your depth. Also use the stick floats with with push button on bottom. I will show you guys some neat tricks with braid a the camp.

I know I could use some knot tying help at camp!
