I coerced a friend to forget going to Eufaula and go to a watershed lake with me for bass and crappie. He really wanted to drag me to Eufaula but gave in and went with me. We fished Cajun cricket and BG baby shad on 1/16th chartreuse RR heads as well as some of my hand tied bug eye jigs in 1/8 oz. We wound up keeping 19 black crappie and 6 LMB. The crappie were 12" - 14.5" and weighted 14 ozs to 1 lb 14 ozs. with most averaging 13" and 1.0 lbs. Good day, good friend, good fishing on Good Friday. I was blessed. we caught 7-8 more 12" crappie that I threw back because they were thin. I am suspecting they are so old they are on the decline or may have parasites, but 400 degs grease kills everything. ODWC will inspect the fish soon and I will know for sure.
Now late next week the crappie should be back in on Eufaula with the nightly temps being in the upper 50' to mid 60's. FISH ON!!!!
