I am assuming that paint was stuck in the swivel?

I've been having issues with Roadrunner heads lately. Blades won't turn and they're just so expensive anymore. I came across the "Charlie Bee" the other day on the net and it seemed like a quite simple idea that I could make myself with a collarless jighead, crane swivel, split ring and blade. Just have to solder the swivel to a jighead and assemble the rest. All the materials are easy to get but I've never seen one of these baits in action or for sale to know if they work any better than the Roadrunner head or not. Does anyone have any experience with these?

Yes, but I cleaned them out as good as I could. Several still didn't spin worth a hoot after the paint was removed. They are way too expensive to have to mess with that sort of thing IMO. Guess I'll just order the supplies and be the guinea pig on this one.

I used a lot of 1/4 oz RR heads on go go minnows last season with out a problem - I love um in the summertime for pitching over brush in open water.

Welcome to the forum, Jeff! Lots of great folks here!
My experience wit RR's is similar to yours. Also hooks were not sharp out of the package. The Slider heads got a lot of bites but rolled at the surface and spit out the hook. Not saying these are inferior baits.....just like a lot of baits tinker with them until you get them to work.

Dunno if you're using the heads with plastic or tying on them, but if'n you're tying, you can make your own belly or tail spins with swivels, split rings n blades.

That's a sharp looking tie there Micropterus. How is that blade and hardware tied in there? Back of the hook or tied into the body?
