    Default Broken Bow

I fished Broken Bow on Thursday and blanked out, didnt even see a fish on the finder. Great looking lake, standing timber up to 80 feet deep and clear. I did a little research before I went and found pics of nice stringers of blacks, I guess I hit at an off time. I talked to a few other fishermen, nobody had caught fish. One group had been there 2 days and had not caught any. On the way I passed over the Kiamichi arm of Hugo on highway 3 and it looked great, off color water and dead falls lining the river. It reminded me of the Poteau river on Wister. No doubt I would have been better off going there than Broken bow. It was 3 1/2 hours drive one way to B.B. but "only" 2 hours and 15 minutes to Hugo, for me that is less than Wister or Kaw.

Dang Fishers sorry you didn't get on the fish! That's a long pull for no fish!

IMO - prettiest in the state. I haven't fished it much winter, pre-spawn or spawn. I do usually try to get down there for a week or so in the Summer or Fall. I have had pretty good Crappie fishing during those times of the year. There was a video put out by ODWC a couple of years ago about summertime Crappie fishing there. It's well worth a trip if you have never made it there. The year round trout fishing is a bonus for those interested

It was a very enjoyable video. The Oklahoma CDC forum needs someone to report from down that way. Most of our reports come from NE Oklahoma but there are some great lakes in the south and southeast. Get on here ever once in awhile and let us know what is happening down your way. Dave (under Crappie Camps) is looking for information right now about Pine Creek for a possible winter camp in a recent posting. We need an extreme SE Okla expert! Glad to see you on here.

    Glad you liked video.
I'm a hick and proud of it.

If someone could post a link to it would be nice.

Todd Craighead is a nice guy and they did a good job.

As for pine creek fish are very small . We caught over 100 in four hours ..but only ten keepers.

    Fish Hugo some also

I have spent several spring breaks below the dam with kiddos. Really nice fish! Easy limits, and I am not talking about those little stocker trout either. Reminds me a lot of southwest Colorado!

Thanks for the condolences Redge. I bet you would do good there. It reminded me of Tenkiller except deeper, clearer and more timber.
