Too many stickies!

Guys, with two tournament trails and the Crappie Camp, we're generating too many stickies! It's starting to take a toll on our main board. I've proposed a tournament section to Doug and he's going to speak with Mark and EB about it.

As for the Crappie Camp, I am moving everything about it other than the anouncement of it to the off topic section. Hopefully this will clean up the Main Board for those who visit and are not interested in the tournaments, and the Camp.

Hope everyone understands, a board littered with stickies hurts the over all visitation.

CR...I disagree with moving the three Crappie Camp threads at this time. We have a lot of people looking at them. This is a critical time for them to sign up. Maybe later....Thanks again for you help on maintaining the lists...dave

Why not just have a separate tournament trail forum and a separate crappie camp forum? It would cut down on the clutter. Then again I don't really see why we need so many separate tournament/camp threads. I believe they could be condensed.

Too many stickies kill a forum. I've seen it happen before and I see it happening again in this forum. I'm proud of our members putting the effort into organizing the tournaments because that takes time and effort. But its overwhelming at times to see the first half of the front page covered with tournament info. My thoughts on stickies has always been, if a thread warrants the attention, it will keep itself alive, if not..........let it fade away and die a natural death. Just my 2 cents.

True, true ,true. People have put some hard work into the Oklahoma stuff and I'm not trying to take anything away from it.

I kinda feel the same way. After looking at several other states forums our sticky threads are many. Several sites don't have any. Yes we need one for our archives and such. If it relates to crappie fishing in Oklahoma and there is interest it will stay alive on the board, if not it will just die. I think we are making it to complicated. After talking with Craig (Reaper) I feel that a tournament sticky should be made for our trail each year and afterwards it should be put into the archives. As far as a challenge as the Wister Challenge the 22nd should be allowed to stay active on the forum for all to see. If things like this are hidden there will be no interest or entries. Example is the Mid West Trail on Oologah only 3 comments in a week and it will die and be off the main page in a week..heck I am not a moderator, and I know they have rules to go by. No complaints from me I just think we are maybe trying a little to hard. Last thing you will hear me say on the subject.....Ranger

I trust whatever Ed and you decide on this, Reaper! I don't run a forum for a living so, I'll let you all run the show!
I do think it makes it cleaner, and easier to navigate with the fewest stickies possible.
