What thrust TM for new Lund?

Hey all, new to site and 1st post. Figured it only right to ask other in Okies due to wind we have. What thrust TM should I get for a 2014 lund alaskan 1800ss, its 18'9" approx weight 1050lbs. Been looking at some 12v and 24v, just undecide on which. Boats has two front storage areas on each side that could hold batteries, dont know if it would be okay to have the wiring so long. Have read that the shorter the wiring the better. This will be my first boat with a TM. Any and all advice is appreciated.

If it was me I would certainly have no less than a 24 volt motor. Nothing less than 80lb thrust. I have owned both Motor Guide and Minn Kota and I am a Minn Kota man. The Fortex is gas assisted and very easy on your back and arms. As far as wiring all the boats I have ever owned which are Bas Boats and every length,model, and make have all ways had the batteries in the back with a 50 amp breaker between motor and batteries. It's my belief bigger is always better. Easier to hold in the wind and easier on your temperament. Don't worry to much about wiring as long as you use the suggested size.......Ranger

I forgot to say I would certainly place the batteries in the back. Reason being if they are up front and in rough water they take a beating. Your boat will ride better with them in the back and will be much easier to get up and on plane also. Another reason also is you will get better fuel consumption with them in the back also....... Ranger

Get You a 80 lb Terrova. Then you can fish in back of boat and run trolling motor.

24v 80 at least for sure. Check out the new Motorguide Xi5's. Nothing but grand reviews of this motor.

I agree with you guys . I use a 45 lb thrust I didn't know any better and was thinking about saving money. its ok on a calm day but in the wind I need more because it just doesn't cut the mustard .
