Okla Youth Hunting Program - Elk Hunt Raffle

The Okla. Youth Hunting & Shooting Program, a 501(c)3 organization, take children from the age of 12 - 17 yrs of age from NON HUNTING families on their first deer hunt. These hunts are on private farms and ranches throughout Okla and are donated to us for the October Special Youth Deer Hunt. We supply the guns, property, food, lodging, guides and outdoor skills training. The board of directors are All volunteers and experienced hunters. One of the ways we raise money to pay our expenses is thru fund raising raffles. Please check our website at www.okyouthhunting.org.

One of this years raffles is a fully guided bull elk rifle hunt for 1 hunter on an 8,000 acre private ranch between Red River N. M. and Eagle Nest N. M. OYH will provide licenses, lodging, meals, and guide service. Tomahawk Outfitters, www.tomahawkoutfitters.com is the outfitter. The hunt is Oct 18 -22, 2014. The best bull killed on this ranch this past fall was 354", the previous years best was 380".The Moreno Valley is known as one of the premier areas in the country to produce many quality bulls. This is a hunt of a lifetime for a hunter. Tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100.00. The winner will be drawn on May 1, 2014. The OYH program introduces youths that do not have any opportunity to get into the outdoors with their parent or guardian and teaches them to deer hunt. Each year we see these children's lives are forever changed by this experience. Please open your heart and help us introduce another child to the great outdoors and our hunting heritage. Last year we took 56 children and their guardians on their first deer hunt. This years goal is 75 children. The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation promotes our program. The only cost for the child is a $10.00 resident youth license and transportation to and from the hunt sites.

We are changing lives, one child at a time.

I just want to put in a plug for this wonderful program. I have seen the amount of work put in by everyone involved, to help kids who have never had the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. Please consider helping out this great orginization!

Odie - Thank you for the kind words. You have followed this organization thru me for the last 5 years. We started with 2 kids and 1 farm. We now have endorsement by ODWC. Bass Pro in OKC and Tulsa are a great help to us too. Academy provides us with donations too. We had 56 kids last year and this years goal is 75. For every child on the hunt there is at least 4 people in support of the youngster. Guides, mentors, cooks, landowners and other support staff. We have 5 regions with directors that oversee and manage the hunts. ALL money raised goes to support the children and the hunt expenses. There are NO paid positions, everyone volunteers their time, money and land. When these hunts draw to a close every year there are tears running down my children, adults and guides cheeks. The Saturday night bonfire has a "Reflection Hour" where every child, guide, mentor, cook, landowner and staff have a few moments to reflect on what this first hunt has meant to them. Tears flow. We watch these children grow and mature over the 3 days of the hunts. You can see this if you watch. The children's lives have been forever changed. This is our reward for a job well done. I personally have hunted this ranch for 15 consecutive years and my success ratio is 90% for 5 hunters harvesting their elk in 3 days, sometimes less.
