Fished Talala creek today from 6 - 4:30. Brush seems to have all washed out when the water was 12' above normal a couple of months back. At least the Crappie were hungry today, fishing over remnants of brush in 10'-12' of water, we dipped and dragged 1/16th oz jigs along the bottom, shallow to deep. Kept 10 over 10", caught around 45. Bite died around 2:30, lake came up about a foot during the time we were out. Big fish of the day was close to 12".
It seems like almost every stick of brush, even the ones we built last summer has been moved completely out of the Talala Creek area. Most of the fish caught were close to submerged stump fields and drop offs.
Great post reaper. I've been missing awhile taking care of some family matters but I am back now. I fished Talala a couple of weeks ago before the high water hit and only caught two in the stump beds. They were good size, maybe 12 or 13 inches. It was so windy I had a hard time holding boat still and fishing slow. Good to know that the crappie are still around. Strange to have high water in late summer. I am gonna try a few creeks and see what happens this weekend.
