    Default Lowrance Rebate a Scam

I purchased a Structure Scan module and sent in for my 150.00 rebate. I called Lowrance and he told me to cut the large bar code off the box and send in with my receipt which I did.Now they tell me their not going to pay because I didn't send in the correct bar code from the box. I sent everything in according to what they told me at Lowrance and now they won't pay.I believe this is a total scam. They had no intention of paying.

Obviously you cut out the wrong bar code. When I purchased my HDS 8 and my structure scan, they both had rebates. I followed the intructions and had my rebates within 30 days. I wouldn't call it a scam, but more like a misunderstanding on your part as to exactly what to cut out along with a copy of your reciept to their rebate handlers. It's an outside company that handles the rebates. perhaps if you get with the right people within Lowrance, someone might be able to help you go ahead and get a rebate. Good luck.

I've always hated rebates. Such a waste of time and in my opinion, they should discount the amount of the rebate from the item at the time of sale and be done with it. I waited for 16 weeks for the rebate on my Motorola cell phone and almost threw away the thing as junk mail when I finally got it thinking it was............well, just more junk mail.

The manufacturer is generally the only one who wins with rebates. They know rebates are a buying point with many consumers and they realize that the majority will never claim their rebate even though it may have been a major reason for the purchase in the first place. This is why they don't just discount the product in the first place. Personally I feel if they have to offer a rebate, they're probably overcharging for it anyway!
