I am right beside you, trying to keep tenkiller with an inch or less would sure be a Godsend for us. Every year the spawn gets killed on tenkiller!

Rest assure the creek bite will go away for a little while after all this crap
And old McDonald is spending hours on his knees praying and asking the Lord for rain so he'll make a good crop this year.............sigh....
AMERICANS: Willing to cross a frozen river to kill you, in your sleep, on Christmas, totally not kidding, we've done it.
Good point Stink! It is a little selfish for me to not want it to flood and ruin the spawn. However I do cut and sell hay so I guess I win either way.

Yes rain please. Going into this winter we were about 200 bales short, 5x6 bales, I'm glad we had a mild winter. I don't want a bunch of rain but we do need some water. For the tourney I just dont want it rained out, for eating or catching fish there is always some fish to catch. My freezer never gets low.

Looks like Eufaula is rising rather quickly this morning! looks like the cove i live in (a very shallow one) came up about two feet on the bank. since i am new to chasing the crappie will this kill the spawn or just push it back a few weeks? will the fish generally move to the new flooded buck brush? If they do i hope that the Corps will leave the lake level alone long enough for the eggs to hatch!!!
Everything I have read about the time table for eggs to become fry it depends on water temp's and oxygen levels in the water. Now with that said it also depends on the water temps not rising to high also. It takes from 1.5 to 4 days for eggs to hatch. Now most studies have been in controlled studies and in hatchery's....As far as the spawn its gonna happen even if they (corps) holds the water back alil. Last year the water on Eufaula was 4' low or lower and with a storm that dumped so much water it made the water rise to normal and it still happened during that period. Now I have another thought also. The time table for the eggs to mature also comes into play. You have cleaned crappie in the late fall that had pretty good size egg sacks and turned right aound and cleaned another that had very small sacks. They do not spawn all at the sametime. I have caught spawning crappie in March all the way thru May. Just something to think about. But I can say that with all the rain and rising lake levels and with the creeks getting muddy and running strong its certainly going to make Saturdays Tourney alil different for some.....Ranger
