Rigrunner had a good time at Fort Cobb Lake this evening...at least for an hour. He caught 21 real nice crappie, mostly black crappie. And poor me, I stayed home to watch the eliminations on " Dancing With The Stars." Oh well, you can't win them all.
He said they were biting like crazy and then it stopped. Good thing it stopped or he would still be out there. He also caught one perch.![]()

AMERICANS: Willing to cross a frozen river to kill you, in your sleep, on Christmas, totally not kidding, we've done it.
That's a nice mess of crappie but they are not black crappie. Those appear to me to be male white crappie.
Black crappie will have 7 to 8 bony spines in the dorsal fin and will not have any pattern to their black spots.
Those, except for the one with the orange belly definitely have a pattern to their spots.

Those are white crappie males in spawning colors. The way to quickly distinquish them is the dark vertical bars on their sides. Great catch RR, WTG!!!!!
Boy, you guys are good on identifying those crappie. Thank you. Guess I never knew the difference. Rigrunner will set me right on it when he sees this. I tell you, you never stop learning. I never knew Stink was my bro-in-law!! Wow!-how luck can I get.
Sure fun while the bite is on.
