just out of curiosity any know how low lake draper is and when is it going to be refilled? and are they going to make improvements to the fishing habitat? since the lake is so low?

It will fill some time in 2012 if they get the pumps done. I was out there a few days ago and its over 20 feet low and still dropping. As for cover I highly doubt it but would be interested in help putting cover in the no wake coves around the docks. There is hardly any cover to speak of in that lake. Its a city water source and for water sports they don't care about the fishing as far as I can tell but they sure sell allot of fishing permits. Enough of my rant!

27-28' low. The estimate date to be refilled is Sept 2012. No habitat wil be added until it is close to filling due to vandals.

Here is exactly what I received from Monte Hannon, the Superintendent at Draper Water Plant, on February 15th .......

We anticipate that we will start filling the lake around the beginning of March. The contractor is currently testing pumps at Atoka. Depending on demand we expect to reach a level useable for recreation around January of 2013.

Look at it this way....those crappie are all bunch up with all those bait fish just getting nice and fat....seen it happen before when the lake was closed and made some awesome fishing where all the crappie are huge....sit back and wait....but as for adding habitat...kinda makes ya want to go out and start building some doesn't it

It would be ok lazylakedog but they put several saugeyes in that lake to thin out the crappie so they have no where to hide so they are getting ate up.

I don't think so, the problem with Draper is low fertility and lack of forage, putting more predator fish in the lake makes it worse.

And the crappie I've caught at Draper look poor, they are very thin bodied. There's a spotted bass population that is stunted because of poor forage base. Even the largemouth I catch at Draper are thin bodied, not fat at all.

There's already a spawning population of walleye in the lake, I caught this 7# walleye in June 2009, even though they supposedly have not stocked walleye in Draper in a long number of years
