I guess I've gotten used to fishing in brush but I just don't loose many hooks in brush. I "feel" the brush and know the difference between a fish and a stick. The other thing is, I use heavier jigs than most and the weight of my jig is enough to pull itself off a stick if I do get on one. The main thing is to never set the hook on brush.
I think that even the best get fooled by brush now and then, especially when the fishing is slow and the are hopeful.Quote:

Yeah, but you only have to co the top third of your spool with it. Fill the rest with cheap mono. Even at that, you will find that you just really don't have to ever re spool, and how much is that worth
ok guys heres my theory. each line has it's place i love the powerpro line i have used it for years on my surf rods below webberfalls and eufaula dams. i have pulled some big cats out with it. i have used it on my bass reels. now as for crappie i use it and mono on ft gibson as the water is always a little dingy the fish don't spook as easy. i tryed it on tenkiller back at the first of spring the water was so clear i could see my jig 4 feet down i spooked some fish when i got snagged on some limbs becaue i couldn't break off.so switched back to mono over there and haven't had anymore problems with spooking just have to retie when i lose my jig. i use stick gaurds so i my lose 3 or 4 jigs a trip. but remember i'm no rocket scientist either.

I haven't used mono for a lot of years, but I just got started using long poles and didn't know how PP would do on them, so I loaded them with some ancient Hi Vis trilene that I had laying around, that and some P line fluorocarbon that Bass Pro loaded on for me. The fact that the Trilene still performed well says a lot for it. It was over 10 years old. I suppose that if I was to buy some mono I would prolly use AN 40. I seem to remember liking it when I used it in the past.
Although the high vis Fluorocarbon line is supposed to be invisible under water which would allow a higher test line to be hard for the fish to see.
the an 40 use to run a larger lb test with a smaller dia. i haven't used it in years. when i used to tournament fish for bass we always used trilene. we pulled some big fish out with it. berkely use to have an offer if you caught a state record they would give you $10,000.00 for letting them use your photo's and catch in ads.
