I will be camping with my kids tomorrow at Bluff Landing but will not have a boat. I will let you know how we do from the bank. Now if only I could find a place to buy minnows in Broken Arrow...
Does anyone have any experience fishing the Verdigris between the Oologah dam down to the Port of Catoosa?
Hey rcatcher you can go buy them at the old tnt archery between coweta and wagoner I will be at bluff tomorrow morning to bass fish I will be in a red ranger 520
Thanks Big George. Last time I went by there it was closed. Glad to hear it's open again.
That's tough to do unless you have access to one of the deeper pools from private land and use a boat small enough to carry in and out.
If you happen to put in at the dam and they're running some good water, you can go all the way to Catoosa. BUT, if you're past any of the shoals when they close the gates, you'll be one of two things. You're boat will be trapped in one of the deeper pools, or....you're boat will be left sitting on a pile of rocks until they open the gates back up which could be a couple of weeks.
You can run into the same thing by going upstream from Rogers Point. If you get upstream too far and the water stops to flow, you're stuck!

Hello... I am new to Oklahoma and new to crappie.com. I live in north east broken arrow and I am looking for a close place to catch sand bass and crappie. I don't have a boat, so bank access is a must. I am hoping to have a boat by next spring but for now it's just a wish. I am new to freshwater fishing. I have been fishing for about 25 years but almost exclusively salt water off the coast of California. Any help, advice, hot spots would be greatly appreciated.
Ft Gibson is about 20 miles east of you and has plenty of bank access. Bass Pro carries maps of many lakes in Oklahoma. These maps can give you ideas on where to start. Navionics has a web application that can give you a satellite view of the lakes and areas where bides go over feeder creeks to the lakes as well. Keystone is west of Tulsa and has bank access
Billy creek and the dikes of the oxbow a are good for evening and night fishing. I personally like fishing the oxbows in June-August. It seems u will find small fish in certain types of brush but when u find the bigger fish u can catch a nice stringer.
