Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, wanted to take just a moment to introduce myself as I'm new to the forum. Name is Matt, I'm located between Claremore & Pryor, North of Hwy 20.
Santa brought me a brand new G3 Eagle 176 with a Yamaha 60HP 4-stroker, Minn-Kota trolling motor, and Garmin fish finder. :D Just a short note on this as I don't want to seem like a walking ad but Brad's Boat Sales here in Claremore is where I bought it and I gotta say the guys over there gave me one of the best buying experiences I've ever had! No pressure, easy to deal with, took all the time I required to explain everything about the boat and all the other gear, they were awesome from start to finish! Even took me to the Verdigris River & showed me everything I needed to know about launching, operating, and recovering which was great as this is the first boat I've ever owned.
I grew up in this area fishing Oologah and Grand but joined the military in 1983 and have not fished either since, but I'm gonna. Thought there might be someone here that wouldn't mind getting out on the lake & showing me around sometime. I've got lots of time on my hands right now and can fish just about any day of the week. My wife is a cold weather weenie, she won't go I suppose.
CrappieGuru if you read this get in touch!! I entered all the 2010 brush pile coordinates at Oologah into my GPS this morning, I use an iPhone app called MotionGPS which works great for navigating to waypoints, so I think I'm about ready to roll..... look out fish!

We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, for so long, with so little, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing."
Welcome to the board. Wow, I'd be proud of that boat too!!! Hope to see ya on Oologah sometime, I'm in a 16.5 SeaArk with a 50 Mariner. Quite a few CC guys on Oologah, so you shouldn't have trouble finding one of us. Haven't met one I didn't like yet. Lots of help from the board too. If it ain't on here you don't need to know it. Good Luck!!!
Welcome to the board from the Big-E, Have read alot of good reviews on the G-3 boats let us know how it fishes for you.
"Never Fry Bacon Naked"
I grew up on Grand and went there last weekend, before Christmas, and limited out in about 4 hours of fishing. All the crappie were 11-13.5 inches. Remember that Grand has a 10" minimum and 15 daily. We fished off of a marina where I know the owner.
When I was a kid my Grandparents bought a cabin on Grand with a private boat/fishing dock. Well at 7 or 8 years old I was a fishing nut & would wake up really early before first light and head out onto that boat dock to fish. There was a light out there, something akin to a street light, so one could still see pretty well even though it was still dark. I'll never forget the first time they took me there, one morning I got up and ran out there to fish, I walked about 1/2 way down the ramp to the dock when suddenly I noticed something moving on top of the water. On a closer look I realized that there were LOTS of things on top of the water, the surface was covered with Garr! Scared the hell outta me!! I'd never seen them before and they looked like a bunch of alligators to me and I was surrounded. I ran back into the cabin yelling for my Grandpa..... and I never lived it down, it's one of those stories that got told over and over whenever we had a family event.

G3 I know what you are talking about they are a little freaky when you seen that for the first time. Good luck on Grand if you go find brush at 15-25 fow and give it a go. Or go anchor up next to an old dock. LOL
