This time of year I try to stay between the areators and the pump tower. I have been using a slip cork for the first time this year. I have had pretty good luck most of the year at Hefner but the slip cork is still pretty new to me. I know that alot of guys use it and I think I am getting better at it but time will tell. Good luck and let me know if I can help. I only get to fish on sat mornings and depending on the wind I might be at dolese for trout. Give me a pm and we'll see if we can't get a few.

I went to the main boat ramp by the ranger station today and the harbor and secondary launch on the Eastside are still locked in ice and supporting the gulls that are standing on it. I would say that by tomorrow the ice should be slush and a boat could launch although the main ramp is rrrrrrrrreeeeeaaaaaaaalllllllllyyyyyyyyy shallow. I would say the lake is down 5' or maybe 6'.

Maybe it won,t get so low we can't get our boats in i am ready sam f

I have been told that if the water continues to drop then do not expect a recharge from Canton until after the walleye rodeo in May. Canton released water early because of an OKC demand for the water and about wiped out the Rodeo hurting the economy of Canton,Okla. Time will tell on this.

I talked to the water dept today and the lake is 5.7' low. The canal from Overholser has, I think, 9.3 cu ft/min of flow coming in which will increase in a few days and go into Hefner. This amount is less than the evaporation rate and daily use but it will increase. I was given a site that anyone can go to and get lake and river information on approx 185 sites. I believe this are all within the State. Go to USGS Real-Time Data for Oklahoma_ Streamflow. I believe site 17 on the left hand column is the Lake Hefner site. I have not taken the time to check this. This could be helpful in the future for people to check lake elevations before leaving the house.

I checked the USGS Real Time Data site and it has an incredible number of sites. This is worth adding to you favorites, I think. I made a mistake on the stream flow at the canal coming from Overholser. The data SHOULD be cu ft/sec not cu ft/min.

Lake Hefner is now 7' low and dropping. The recharge from Canton is scheduled to start AFTER this year's Walleye Rodeo. I heard this from a very reliable source today so everyone just hang on it.Hands Clapping
